NOTES AND TIPS
- I made this top to fit XS/S so please adjust it to your own size
With your top and mesh colour yarn make a slip knot and chain 60. This will be your foundation chain.
Please note I am making this pattern for an XS/S so please adjust it to fit the size you desire to make. To find the length of the foundation chain measure your bust but leave a 15cm gap on your back.
ROW 1
Half double crochet into each chain (60).
Chain 1 and turn in your work.
ROW 2-14
Half double crochet into each stitch (60), chaining 1 to end the row and turn.
ROW 15
Change colours to your second colour, single crochet into each stitch.
You have finished the top panel for this top, make sure it fits and add extra rows if needed.
MESH PANEL
ROW 15
This panel continues on from row 14.
Instead of chaining 1 and turning work, chain 3 and turn work.
Double crochet by skipping the first stitch and going into the second stitch in the row.
Chain 1, skip the next stitch and double crochet into the second stitch.
Repeat until you reach the end of the row (30 double crochets with 1 chain in between them).
ROW 16 - 27
Chain 3 to start the row and double crochet into the space between the two double crochets below.
Chain 1, double crochet into the space between the two double crochets below.
(If adjusting the size repeat until you reach the desired length).
TOP LINING AND STRAPS
Insert the second colour into the top of row 1 by creating a slip stitch and inserting it into the start of row 1.
(Second colour) Create a slip knot and insert it into the start of row 1, chain 1 and single crochet into each stitch for 14 stitches. When you reach the 14th-stitch stop, this is where you start the first strap.
To create the strap, chain 200 (or the length you need so it is long enough to match the photo below).
Slip stitch into each chain.
Single crochet into each stitch until reaching the middle of your top.
Chain 50.
Slip stitch into each chain.
Single crochet in the next stitch.
Chain 50.
Slip stitch into each chain.
Single crochet into each stitch until reaching the 15th stitch from the end of the row (this is strap 2).
Chain 200.
Slip stitch into each chain.
Single crochet into each stitch to finish the row.
Chain 1, cut yarn and pull through.
BUNCHING
To create bunching in the middle of the top, fold the top in half to find the middle.
Cut 30cm of your first colour yarn and pull it through the darning needle.
Weave the needle through the loops of the stitches in the middle of your top panel and pull one end of your yarn through.
Pull tight and tie a knot.
FINISHES
Weave in any loose ends.
The top is finished !! CONGRATS :) Enjoy your new favourite handmade summer top!

Hello for row 1, do I skip the first chain and then make the first half double crochet in the second chain?
